Potato Dextrose Agar is used for the cultivation of fungi.
Preparation Add Potato to water and simmer for 30-60 minutes,
,Filter through several layers of cheesecloth or muslin.
,Suspend 39 g of the medium in one liter of purified water.
,Heat with frequent agitation and boil for one minute to completely dissolve the medium.
,Autoclave at 121°C for 15 minutes in 15 psi (pounds per square inch)
Final pH: 5.6 ± 0.2 at 25°C
Corn Meal Agar Media
Corn Meal Agar is used for the cultivation of pathogenic fungi.
Formula/Liter Corn Meal Infusion from (20g)2.0 g/Agar 15.0g/Dextrose 20g/Peptone 20g
(2.0 g of Corn extract is equivalent to 20 g of infusion from Corn.)
Preparation Add Corn to water and simmer for 30-60 minutes.,
Filter through several layers of cheesecloth or muslin.,
Suspend 57 g of the medium in one liter of purified water.,
Autoclave at 121°C for 15 minutes in 15 psi (pounds per square inch)
